While most of us think of the motorcycle as a green alternative, since its gas economy usually falls into the 50-60 mpg category…there is a dark secret.  Motorcycles currently produce up to 15 times the emissions per mile as the average new automobile or light truck!  Many states have now tightened emissions regulations for motorcycle manufacturers to bring them in line with emissions on other road vehicles.

We have run across a new breed of motorcycle vying for position in the new green market.  The Enertia by Brammo is actually over six times cleaner than a Toyota Prius, as calculated by Telsa Motors Inc. in their “21st Century Car” white paper.

The Enertia motorcycle is an urban commuter bike that can exceed 50 mph and travels 40 miles on a single 3-hour charge. At roughly 32 cents per charge and under one-cent a mile – it is positioned to be the compelling green alternative for the new urban consumer.  The bike offers smooth power delivery and impressive torque; the Enertia will sprint from 0 to 30 mph in 3.8 seconds!

The company is also developing software that will allow the rider to download information about his/her riding habits.  This will allow the rider to “tune” the power settings to maximize the bike’s performance in a specific environment.
