Ever wonder how people acquire large mailing lists and do mass e-mail or postcard distribution?  Well, it is done in many ways, but one of the easiest by far is a web application called Vertical Response.  This program gives you free tools to capture customer information for your lists.  Simply create a subscription form for a newsletter or a special offer and place the form in your blog or web page.  As people subscribe the program builds the list and sends a confirmation to the customer to click on, thereby providing you a double-opt-in list (a valuable list, since these people want you to send them info.)  You can also create customer surveys to capture specific information about a product or offering. Once you build a list, Vertical Response gives you tools to do mass e-mail promotions with easy-to-use templates.  You can also print postcards and mail them out.  E-mail blasts are less than a penny for each address!
