“Green Insurance” is a term never used prior to 2006!  Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. was the innovator at that time and began offering Green Insurance for commercial and residential buildings.

The concept is based upon providing the owners of “green buildings” with a guarantee that any reconstruction of their building will bring the new structure up to the current LEED specifications.

LEED identifies a group known as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.  They provide nationally recognized, independent certification for design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.  Their rating standard is a benchmark for energy efficient buildings and appliances.
